Beschreibung
The THC test (25 ng/ml) is a urine rapid test for the orientating screening for cannabis metabolites (THC-COOH). With a more sensitive cut-off , this variant can also react at lower concentrations – e.g. in the case of residual traces or in a late phase after consumption (depending on the individual situation).
This variant is often chosen when a particularly sensitive orientation is desired – for example, to classify declining THC-COOH concentrations or for personal follow-up checks between several test times.
- Sensitive cut-off: 25 ng/ml
- Reacts to THC-COOH (breakdown product in the urine)
- Result after 3-5 minutes
- Suitable if a finer orientation is desired (residual traces possible)

Application – step by step
- Collect urine sample in a clean container (e.g. cup).
- Dip test strips to the mark (MAX) for approx. 10-15 seconds .
- Remove strips and lay flat on a clean, dry surface.
- Read the result after 3-5 minutes.
Interpretation of results
Negative:
Two lines (C + T) visible → no evidence of THC-COOH above 25 ng/ml.
A weak test line (T) is also considered negative.
Positive:
Only control line (C) visible → indication that THC-COOH may be above 25 ng/ml .
Invalid:
No control line (C) visible → test invalid, please repeat with a new strip.
Why 25 ng/ml? (sensitive, orienting)
The cut-off of 25 ng/ml is more sensitive compared to 50 or 150 ng/ml.
This means that the test can react even at lower THC-COOH concentrations . This variant is often chosen when you want a finer orientation – e.g. in the case of declining concentrations or for monitoring the progress between several test times.
- for a more sensitive classification of possible residual traces
- for follow-up tests when results are expected to be in the low range
- if you want to check whether a screening still reacts at lower concentrations
and does not replace confirmatory analysis in the laboratory.
For a guide to the frequently used standard cut-off, the THC test 50 ng/ml is suitable.
If it is primarily a matter of significantly higher concentrations, the more selective variant THC Test 150 ng/ml is suitable.
Frequently asked questions about the THC test (25 ng/ml) (FAQ)
What is the difference between 25 ng/ml and 50 or 150 ng/ml?
50 ng/ml is a commonly used screening standard, 150 ng/ml is more selective and is more likely to react at higher concentrations.
See variants: THC 50 ng/ml and THC 150 ng/ml.
Can 25 ng/ml still be positive if a 50 ng/ml test is already negative?
What does a very weak second line (T) mean?
Can drinking a lot affect the result?

Subject Principles & Sources
The contents serve to classify a screening test (cut-off principle, reading time, typical influencing factors).
The information in the manufacturer’s IFU (instructions for use) of the respective test variant is decisive.
- Manufacturer’s IFU / package leaflet (cut-off 25 ng/ml, execution, reading time, restrictions, cross-reactions).
Important note: This THC urine test (25 ng/ml) is an orientating screening test.
It does not replace medical, therapeutic or legally binding clarification. Laboratory analysis is required for confirmatory results.
