Buying a drug test: which test is right for your situation?

The appropriate test mainly depends on the substance being checked, how recent possible use may have been and whether one or several substances need to be covered. Urine and saliva rapid tests are available for initial screening.

Urine test or saliva test?

Urine drug tests are commonly used to detect metabolites of one or more substances. Results are generally available within a few minutes.

Saliva tests are particularly suitable for screening closer to the possible time of use and allow direct sample collection.

Single test or multi-drug test?

When a specific substance is known, a targeted single test may be suitable, for example for THC, cocaine, amphetamines, benzodiazepines or opiates.

If several substances are possible, a multi-drug test provides a broader initial overview using one sample.

Substance tests and surface tests

Substance tests provide preliminary indications of certain possible components. They do not fully determine purity or dosage.

Surface tests may indicate possible drug residues on objects or surfaces.

What does the result mean?

A rapid test provides an indicative screening result. It cannot reliably determine the amount used, the exact time of use or the current degree of impairment.

An unexpected result or one with significant consequences should be confirmed using an appropriate laboratory method.

Still unsure which test to choose?

Our overview of different drug test types explains the differences between urine, saliva and multi-drug tests. More answers are available in the drug testing FAQ.

Frequently asked questions before ordering

How quickly is the result available?

Depending on the product, the result can generally be read after a few minutes. Always follow the instructions and the specified reading time.

Is a positive rapid test definitive proof?

No. A rapid test provides an indicative screening result. Laboratory confirmation is recommended when a result is unexpected or could have significant consequences.

Which test is suitable when the substance is unknown?

If several drugs are possible, a multi-drug test is often more suitable than a single test. Check which substances are included in the panel before ordering.

How is the order shipped?

Orders are shipped from Switzerland in neutral and discreet packaging, with no indication of the contents on the outside.
