The Propoxyphene Rapid Test Strip (Urine) is a rapid visual immunoassay for the qualitative presumptive detection of propoxyphene in human urine samples.

Interesting facts about propoxyphene

As an opioid, dextropropoxyphene has about the same effects and side effects as well as the same potential danger as other opioids. The analgesic equivalence of the single dose is one-twentieth of that of morphine.

Effects and side effects of propoxyphene

Possible side effects of propoxyphene include:

  • Fatigue
  • Insomnia
  • Lightheadedness
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Edema in the legs
  • Urinary retention (problems urinating)
  • Constipation

The side effects usually disappear when the effect or the reduction of the dose decreases. Sleep and sexual disorders last the longest. Taking propoxyphene during pregnancy or breastfeeding has an effect on the fetus or the child.

Procedure Propoxyphene Test:

Remove the propoxyphene quicklyfrom the packaging and dip the test strip in the urine for about 15 seconds. Then place the test strip in a dry place and wait for the test result, which can be read after about 3 minutes.

Two lines mean that no substances or degradation products of propoxyphene could be detected.
