Health hazards: Smoking and the use of nicotine products are associated with significant health risks, including heart disease, lung cancer, respiratory diseases, and addiction.
Smoking cessation: Cotinine tests can help track progress in smoking cessation and measure the effectiveness of smoking cessation measures.
Passive smoking: Even individuals who don’t actively smoke may have cotinine in their system due to secondhand smoke exposure.
Cotinine is a useful marker for detecting tobacco use and monitoring the success of smoking cessation measures.
