Beschreibung
The ovulation test is a test procedure to determine the fertile days in the monthly cycle. The ovulation test reacts to the increase in luteinizing hormone (LH) in the woman’s urine and is thus able to determine the time of monthly ovulation (ovulation).
The chance of getting pregnant increases with the knowledge of the fertile days by determining the ideal time, even with very irregular cycles.
The ovulation test is extremely simple and safe to use.
Application of ovulation test (midstream):
- Remove the ovulation test strip from the bag
- You will need urine for the test procedure. Ideally, you should use urine from the midstream
- Grasp the test stick by the handle and hold the tip in the running urine stream for 5 seconds.
Alternatively, you can collect the urine in a cup and dip the tip for 5 seconds. - Put the protective cap back on and place the test on a flat surface.
- The result can be read after approx. 3 – 5 minutes
Results of the ovulation test after 10 minutes may no longer be evaluated.
How the ovulation test works:
The term „ovulation“ refers to the expulsion of an egg cell from the ovary. The egg cell must then be fertilized within 24 hours. This is the only way to get pregnant. Before the egg is rejected, the body produces an increased amount of luteinizing hormone, or LH for short. The increased hormone production causes the egg to expel itself. The ovulation test measures the LH value in the urine. Since ovulation usually occurs in the middle of the menstrual cycle, this is also when the chances of pregnancy are highest. The ovulation test contains antibodies that react to the hormone. If the concentration of LH is low, it does not show a line and the fertile days cannot be detected. As soon as the concentration increases, a colored line will appear. The test can therefore be considered „positive“ and they are fertile.
The internal procedure control (control line) shows you whether the ovulation test has been performed correctly.
Interpretation of the results of the ovulation test:
Positive: A faint or pronounced line appears in the „C“ control area. A distinct line in the test line area „T“
Negative: A distinct line appears in the „C“ control area. No or a weak line in the test line area „T“
When should the test start?
If you do not know your cycle, start the test 12 days after the first day of your period. Test your LH level every day for 5 days or until the ovulation test is positive.
Use the following table as a guide. The start date always refers to the time after the first day of their period.
Example: If your cycle is 30 days, then you should start testing 14 days after your period starts.
| Cycle length (in days) | Start date of the trial phase |
| 21 | Day 5 |
