Description
The AMP Amphetamine Drug Test is a rapid urine test for the orientation detection of amphetamine in urine. Amphetamine belongs to the group of stimulants and is often known in the leisure context under scene terms such as speed, pep or upper . The test provides a qualitative screening result and indicates whether amphetamine could be detectable above the defined cut-off value of 1000 ng/ml . The result can usually be read after about 3-5 minutes .
The most important things in brief:
- Quick & easy: Amphetamine urine test with result after about 3-5 minutes.
- Screening test: orientating detection of amphetamine in the urine.
- Cut-off: 1000 ng/ml.
- Detectability: often approx. 1–3 days, depending on dose, frequency of consumption, metabolism, urine pH and test design.
- Well-known scene terms: Speed, Pep, Upper, Amphe.
- Discreet: neutral shipping from Switzerland.
- Scope of delivery: 1 test strip & instructions.
How to use AMP Amphetamine Urine Test – step by step
- Collect urine sample in a clean and dry container.
- Do not remove the AMP amphetamine test strip from the packaging until immediately before use.
- Dip test strips into the urine sample for about 10-15 seconds until the mark. Do not dip over the mark.
- Remove the test strips and place them on a clean, dry and level surface.
- Read the result after approx. 3-5 minutes . Results that are read much later can be unreliable.

Important: Please always follow the manufacturer’s package leaflet. Immersion time, reading time, storage and interpretation must be observed in accordance with the instructions for use.

Interpretation of the results of the AMP amphetamine rapid test
Negative: Two lines visible (C + T) → no indication of amphetamine above the cut-off value. Even a weak test line (T) is usually considered negative, as long as the control line (C) is visible.
Positive: Only the control line (C) is visible → indication that amphetamine could be present above the cut-off value of 1000 ng/ml.
Invalid: No control line (C) visible → the test is invalid and should be repeated with a new test strip.

Advice & next steps – what to do in the event of a positive AMP test?
A positive result in an AMP amphetamine rapid test should be carefully classified. Amphetamine can be used as a drug in a medical context in certain countries, but is often associated with speed or pep in a recreational context. In the case of illegally traded substances, the composition, active ingredient content and admixtures can fluctuate greatly.
The test only provides an orientating screening result. It does not say how much was taken, when the intake took place, whether a person is currently impaired or what exact substance was present. In the case of relevant questions, a confirmatory analysis by a qualified laboratory is recommended. In the case of acute symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, severe restlessness, overheating, seizures, confusion or impaired consciousness, medical help should be contacted immediately.

Detectability of amphetamine in urine – orienting guideline values
The duration of detection of amphetamine in urine can vary from person to person. Among other things, the amount consumed, the frequency of consumption, the metabolism, the urine pH, the fluid balance and the cut-off used play a role. The AMP test strip therefore serves as a screening and not as an exact time determination.
| Situation | Orienting detectability in urine* | Classification |
| One-time or infrequent use | often approx. 1–2 days | depending on dose, metabolism and urine pH |
| Occasional use | often about 1–3 days | Individual differences possible |
| Repeated / higher consumption | several days possible | repeated use may lengthen the detection window |
*The figures are indicative. Individual deviations are possible. Qualified laboratory analysis is required for binding statements.
What is measured in the AMP amphetamine test?
The AMP urine test is based on an immunological rapid test principle. It is designed to qualitatively detect amphetamine in the urine. The result shows whether the measured range is above or below the defined cut-off value of 1000 ng/ml . The test does not provide a quantitative concentration and is not suitable for determining an exact amount of consumption or the time of ingestion.
Amphetamine is a stimulant that activates the central nervous system. In the illegal market, amphetamine is often referred to as speed or pep . In addition to amphetamine, such products can also contain cutting agents, by-products or other psychoactive substances. An AMP rapid test therefore only indicates an orienting reaction in the target area and does not replace laboratory analysis.
Note: Depending on the test system, a separate test field is used for methamphetamine. If the results are unclear or relevant consequences, a confirmatory analysis is recommended.
Cross-reactions & possible influencing factors in the AMP test
As with many immunological urine rapid tests, various factors can influence the interpretation of AMP amphetamine screening . These include possible cross-reactions, application errors, incorrect storage, a highly diluted sample or an inappropriate reading time. The information in the respective manufacturer’s IFU is always decisive.
| Possible influence | Why relevant? |
| Other medications or active ingredients | Depending on the test design, certain drugs or structurally similar substances can cause cross-reactions. The manufacturer’s specifications are crucial. |
| Medical Amphetamine Use | A medically prescribed intake of amphetamine-like active ingredients can explain a positive screening. |
| Highly diluted urine sample | A very low urine concentration can reduce the significance of a screening. A negative result therefore does not rule out taking it with certainty. |
| Incorrect reading time | Reading too early or too late can lead to misinterpretations. The reading time according to the package leaflet must be observed. |
| Incorrect application | Too deep immersion, too long/too short immersion time or contaminated samples can affect the result. |
| Storage & shelf life | Moisture, heat, direct sun or expired tests can affect functionality. |
In the case of unclear or consequential results, a confirmatory analysis by a qualified laboratory is the most sensible next measure.
AMP rapid test vs. evidence-proof laboratory analysis
The AMP Amphetamine Test Strip is a quick screening test for an initial assessment. Such screening is practical, uncomplicated and provides a result quickly. At the same time, it is not to be equated with an evidentiary laboratory analysis. A positive result is considered a preliminary indication and should be confirmed if there are relevant consequences.
Depending on the method, a laboratory analysis can check more specifically what substance is actually present and whether it is amphetamine, methamphetamine, a drug, a metabolite or a cross-reaction. This is especially important if a result could have medical, occupational, legal or traffic-related consequences. The rapid test is therefore particularly suitable as an initial orientation test, not as conclusive proof.
Interesting facts about amphetamine, speed & pep
Amphetamine is a synthetic substance with a stimulating effect on the central nervous system. Typical effects can be increased alertness, increased drive, reduced feeling of tiredness and hunger as well as stronger self-confidence. At the same time, restlessness, insomnia, palpitations, anxiety, irritability or depressive moods can occur.
In a recreational context, amphetamine is often referred to as speed or pep . High dosages, repeated topping-up, sleep deprivation, physical exertion when partying or dancing, and mixed consumption with alcohol, MDMA, cocaine, benzodiazepines or other substances are particularly risky. Risks include cardiovascular problems, overheating, dehydration, mental crises and a relevant potential for psychological dependence.
Illegally traded amphetamine products can contain strongly fluctuating active ingredient contents and different admixtures. A urine rapid test can therefore only indicate whether a defined target area above the cut-off reacts. Drug checking or laboratory analysis is required for statements on purity, composition or exact substance identity.

Note: This AMP amphetamine test strip is a screening test for quick orientation. It does not indicate the exact amount of active ingredient, the time of ingestion, an impairment or the exact composition of a consumed substance. For questions with binding consequences, a confirmatory analysis by a qualified laboratory is useful.
